Belfast’s city centre had suffered from underinvestment and its public realm was in very poor condition. This project created a new vibrancy in the City Centre, by bringing a wholly new character to the streets and public realm environment, leading to increased footfall and visitor numbers.

To define a vision for Belfast City centres public realm which would lift the quality and profile of the city as an international destination, attracting new inward investment and tourism. To produce a public realm masterplan report and vision for the entire city centre, identify and design phase 1 projects and oversee their implementation.

A CEEQUAL Whole project Award - Excellent rating was achieved, demonstrating the project's sustainability credentials.
To secure an enduring legacy, a management/maintenance working group reviewed and contributed to the design and implementation process. This resulted in an innovative reinstatement package to protect the investment, consisting of full method statements for deconstruction and reconstruction of pavements, associated drawings and a materials stockpile, to facilitate maintenance without impacting on quality.
