The Construction Industry Council (CIC) has launched the Brexit Digest newsletter to keep member organisations and their members informed about developments and share opinions regarding Britain’s withdrawal from the EU, and to share information amongst the CIC’s constituent professions.

As part of the digest’s remit, members are invited to email any Brexit-related questions to [email protected] (including ‘Brexit Digest’ in the subject line). These will form part of an interactive FAQs section where members can share information and advice.

The digest was set up following a meeting of the CIC at the beginning of August to discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by Brexit for the built environment professions. Other outcomes of the meeting included an agreement to provide policy input and support to the Brexit working groups established by Institution of Civil Engineers president Sir John Armitt, and to use the CIC’s membership database to conduct regular surveys;

Speaking after the meeting, CIC chief executive Graham Watts said: ‘Since the referendum, the leading professional bodies have been proactive in providing policy leads and briefings on the likely impact of Brexit. CIC can add value to that activity by supporting emerging consensus policy lines; acting as the hub for sharing information; and using the extensive network of the professional bodies to gather data and information.’
