Planit-IE has completed a commemorative garden for Hillsborough families, a new boulevard and a public square at Liverpool Football Club to accompany the opening of the expanded main stand, now the largest-capacity single stand in the country.

The new public realm – part of the city’s £260m Anfield Regeneration Plan – links the stadium to Walton Breck Road in the south and Stanley Park to the north. The new avenue and public square were designed to create an attractive thoroughfare for local residents as well as heightening the matchday experience. The existing Hillsborough memorial has been relocated to a new commemorative garden, designed in collaboration with the families.

Planit-IE has also announced a number of staff promotions: Gillian Webb, Matt Stirton, Pete Robinson and Sarah Fox become project landscape architects; Luke Whitaker has been promoted to landscape architect; and Abi Allen to graphic designer. Joining the London studio are new graduate recruits Helen Saunders and Sarah Harris from Sheffield university; while year-out students Emma Thompson and Francesca Boldy will work in the Manchester studio.
