Appointment forges link between UK universities

Kathryn Moore to take up Professor Arnold Weddle Chair at Sheffield

Birmingham City University’s Professor Kathryn Moore has been appointed Visiting Professor, Arnold Weddle Chair, at the University of Sheffield.
Kathryn, who will continue in her role as Professor of Architecture at Birmingham School of Architecture, was also recently appointed of the International Federation of Architects (IFLA).
She also chairs the IFLA working group for a UNESCO International Convention and is a past president of the Institute (2004).

Kathryn says she is looking forward to linking her role as IFLA president with 'a collaboration between two notable universities’. She also emphasised the potential role of landscape architecture in any successful development of the HS2 project between Birmingham and London, adding: ‘Birmingham City University is well known for its applied expertise in art and design and this reflects my own background and strengths in this area. Sheffield University approaches this subject with a strong disciplinary background in science and planning. How we are able to merge our disciplines and backgrounds to provide a viable, multi-disciplinary approach, and to develop better insights enhancing quality of life for people around the UK and internationally is the key issue that we will be jointly pursuing.’
