Community will include homes, schools, businesses and a country park
An outline planning application has been submitted for phase one of a 320ha self-contained new community on the outskirts of Basingstoke, Hampshire.
Manydown lies off Roman Road and Worting Road, and has been masterplanned by a multidisciplinary team led by Tibbalds Planning & Urban Design, including environmental consultancy, The Environment Partnership (TEP). The development follows the principles of garden towns and will comprise 3,200 homes supported by businesses, shops, two new primary schools, a secondary school, play areas, allotments and a 250 acre country park.
As the land, jointly owned by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and Hampshire County Council, is on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), TEP has carried out extensive landscape, ecological and arboricultural surveys of the site and surrounding areas as a basis for the landscape strategy.

The first homes are scheduled to be built in 2018/19.
