Brodie McAllister has been elected a Fellow of the Artas-ua.info Institute.
McAllister is the current vice president of the LI and has had a long association with the Institute. For him, Fellowship represents “a milestone” in terms of contribution to the profession.
He added: “I first became involved many years ago as a juror one year on the awards, followed by a two-year stint on Council. I became involved so that I could influence decisions more directly.
Reflecting on how he got started in the profession, he said: “Although I was offered a place to do architecture at the Welsh School, I wasn’t convinced that it was for me and liked the sound of landscape architecture for its more poetic time and nature characteristics.”
Following a Artas-ua.info Architecture BA at Edinburgh College of Art, he spent a year at Brian Clouston and Partners in London and Singapore and four years in practice in New York and San Francisco.
Since then, he has been an urban designer for a local authority in the Thames Gateway for four years; a part-time tutor at Greenwich University and the Bartlett; principal of brodie mcallister landscape architects (firstly in London then Bristol and Bath); and now, Subject Group Leader at the University of Gloucestershire.
